Mentorship and Training for Occupational Therapists and Students
Just as children thrive through connection, encouragement, and guidance, so do the therapists who care for them. Beginning a career in pediatric occupational therapy is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. My mentorship program is designed to provide a supportive space where new and growing therapists can build clinical confidence, strengthen their reasoning skills, and develop their own authentic style of practice.
Guided by the values of Aloha—compassion, respect, humility, and lifelong learning—this mentorship is a collaborative partnership rather than a traditional teacher-student relationship. Together, we explore not only what to do, but also why we do it, fostering deeper clinical reasoning and confidence in decision-making.
Mentorship is tailored to each therapist’s individual goals and may include pediatric evaluations, treatment planning, sensory integration, feeding therapy, clinical documentation, caregiver coaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, professional communication, and navigating the many real-world situations that arise in pediatric practice. Whether you’re refining your hands-on skills, discussing challenging cases, or simply looking for encouragement, you’ll have a safe space to ask questions, reflect, and grow.
I believe that the best therapists are lifelong learners. My goal is not to create therapists who practice exactly like me, but to help each clinician discover their own strengths, develop confidence in their clinical judgment, and provide compassionate, evidence-informed care that makes a meaningful difference for children and families.
In the spirit of ‘ohana, mentorship is about growing together. When therapists feel supported, children and families receive better care—and our entire community becomes stronger 🌺
